Directed by Anurag Kashyap, Dev D is a modern version of the Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s famous character Devdas. The protagonist Devdas (Abhay Deol) is the son of a businessman and falls in love with Paro (Mahi Gill). A petty misunderstanding alienates them from each other, leading to her marriage to a widower, and his departure to Delhi. Devdas then tries to find love in drugs, alcohol and a prostitute.
